On March 16th Carolina High School’s HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) departed from our school at 7:30 am and travelled four hours away to Charleston, SC for three days to compete against other students from other schools across the state.
The competitions were all in health related fields. Some students took a test, others gave speeches or wrote essays, and some even had to show emergency preparedness in a scenario in front of judges. Every student tried their best and attended each of their competitions.
Our students worked very hard and many of them had to participate in a two level competition with a preliminary round and many of those students progressed to round two. Those students tried just as hard in the second round.
At the end, two students from our school placed and are eligible to attend nationals this year. Senior Chantelle Levesque placed with the Barbara James Award for generously devoting 200 plus hours of her time by doing volunteer work. Senior Ana Musenge who also placed in her competition in prepared speaking. These two students are both eligible to travel to nationals this year to compete again to represent not only our school but also the state.
Congratulations to all of the students who attended, those who placed and to those who tried their best in their competitions. Also a special thank you goes out to those teachers, staff, and parents who attended as chaperones and also a big thank you to the students who competed and represented our school. It was another successful year for Carolina High School’s HOSA!
